ABOUT THE SESSIONS

  • No. My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and for an even wider variety of reasons. Some are voice professionals, some are educators, some are hobbyists who just want to get better at what they’re doing. I have a range of skills and I’m happy to use any and/or all of them to help you get where you want to be!

  • Yes! That’s one of my areas of expertise and I’ve published in journals and textbooks on the subject. You can find my work here.

  • Yourself, a bottle of water and anything you’d like to work on, such music, text, song-writing projects, etc.

  • Sessions must be canceled 24 hours in advance, or you will be responsible for that session.

Appointments cancelled with 24 hours notice may always be rescheduled, at the student and instructors’ convenience.

Appointments cancelled without appropriate notice (i.e., within the 24 hour period), will be charged the full lesson fee, due immediately. Makeups will be scheduled at the instructor's discretion.

IN-PERSON lessons will be suspended if the city suspends public transportation service. In the case of inclement weather where public transport is still available, closures will be determined by 9 a.m. If you believe that you are incapable of making an appointment due to inclement weather, contact the studio so that arrangements may be made.

ONLINE lessons will remain scheduled unless either the instructor or student lose power or connectivity.

IN-PERSON TO ONLINE - if you are unable to make an appointment due to inclement weather, you are always encouraged to attend your lesson online.

  • Cash, Credit cards, Venmo, Paypal. I can send invoices, as well.

LOCATION

In-person sessions are held at my Manhattan studio location on West 57th Street. Online sessions are held via Zoom.

Session Length

Sessions are one hour - 50 minutes of instruction with 10 minutes allowed for getting in and out, administrative tasks, etc. Half hour sessions are not recommended, but are available if needed due to timing or financial issues.

Sliding Scale for Voice Training

I believe very strongly that professional voice training and gender-affirming voice care should be available to everyone, and to facilitate that, I do offer a sliding scale for those with financial need. If you need to use the sliding scale, please let me (or my assistant) know and I will be happy to discuss that with you.

Choosing to pay more than the standard session rate on the sliding scale is one way that you can help make vocal training available for individuals who wouldn’t otherwise be able to have access to a vocal coach.

PLEASE NOTE:

Clients under the age of 16 must have their parent or legal guardian's consent to study with the instructor, and a form must be initialed/electronically signed by the consenting guardian prior to the commencement of lessons.

Punctual lesson attendance contributes significantly to the singer's progress is his or her vocal study. Additionally, so that each student receives the time and attention to which they are entitled, lessons which begin late due to a client’s delayed arrival will not run over into the next student's lesson time. Exceptions may be made at my discretion, schedule permitting.

During the course of study, I may ask to physically touch a client at various points of the body - including the head, neck, torso or abdomen - for purposes of assessing and correcting tension and posture, or demonstrating technique. Consent will always be asked for prior to contact!
